Turn the Key. . . Get Nothing

Hey I have a 2001 Cavalier and this problem came about probably a year ago and somehow it just fixed itself. Well almost a year later it's doing the same exact thing and it has yet to fix itself this time unfortunately. You turn the key and get absolutely nothing. . . no gauges, no radio, no start. . . nothing. I took the steering column covers off and was probing the connectors plugged into the ignition switch. There is a black one on top and a white one on the bottom. I unplugged both of them and got no voltage from the white connector at all, but got 12.5 volts from the two pinks wires in the black connector. The funny thing is when I plug the black connector back into the ignition switch and probe the back of it I get NO voltage from the two pink wires at all which is very confusing. I think I'm going to try a continuity test on the ignition switch and if it fails I'll just replace it. I really have no other ideas. If anyone could help that would be great!

Oh and I forgot to mention. Everything on the battery side is functional. . . headlights, hazards, dome light, etc. Thanks!

I had something like that happen in my 98...only mine would actually turn over but never actually start (like the theft protection was active). Turned out to be some corrosion on my fuses in the fuse panel. Your problem sounds a little more serious...but might be worth looking at...

The links no longer direct me to the wiring diagrams, but they did work when I looked at them last night. Thanks a lot!

Okay well I ruled out the ignition switch, and again the problem has fixed itself. The problem seems to be around the main harness plug under the airbox. I unplugged the two halves and they weren't corroded whatsoever so I plugged them back in. There is definitely an intermittent short somewhere though, because if I pulled the harness in a certain way all of the interior accessories would shut off. I was very close to unlooming all the wires to try and find a broken wire, but then no matter what I did I couldn't replicate the intermittent anymore so I basically gave up, put everything back together, and drove around town for awhile. . . very frustrating.
