I can't put a finger or ear on the exact thing, but it changes with rpm increase.
Any ideas?
2.2 OHV LN2
2000 cav
remote control heli under the hood?
from the looks of it, it seems to get louder then you put the camera closer to the alt.
Try getting a stethoscope, and touching the end to different parts of the engine, wherever its loudest, is probably your problem. I wanna say the bearings in the alt went but IDK. IDK about the alts for the 2.2 but I kno my 350's alt had a plastic or metal covering over the bearings. Whenever I went thru an alternator I would look and it was gone and a few bearings would be missing. I know there is a plastic backing to the whole thing, its under that and the covering is about the size of a dime or nickel and right in the middle of the alt.
just watched it again, maybe some sort of vacuum leak or an exhaust leak? is what it sounds like in the video close to what it sounds like in person?
no clue but something doesnt sound to good. cant really tell from video and sound quality.
That is actually a pretty good representation of the sound! I cant get the mic (well phone) down in but it seems to be loudest in line with the valve cover down towards the middle of the engine.
This has been going on for months now. I had a fuel pump go bad in the mean time, so I haven't had time or extra $$$ to get a pro.
I noticed that my engine temp has normalized at about 1 tick mark higher than the middle where it had always been. I was thinking that the water pump may be a viable cause.
