Just wondering if anyone knows how the cable goes into the e-brake handle on a 99 sunfire...

I pulled it to apply the brake yesterday and it came apart, I popped the little container off at the top of the console and can see the cable and lever mechanism but not enough to see how the cable attaches to it. Not sure if the cable broke or if it came loose.

I know it came off in there because when you pull the lever the cable doesn't move and it's not broken at the rear.

Do I have to remove the whole center console?

I Checked it again, the lever still pulls on the cable but only once it's pulled WAY up almost as far as it can go... needs to be adjusted?
