Ok i am just begining to reassemble my 2.4L and just wondering what all should be replaced and what can be reused....
and then if you suggest replacement... are they a standard autozone type part? or we talking dealership or special order here?
crank seals... i know there is one seal on the timing chain cover... and then the rear main cap has a seal on it... is there a seal or gasket between the rear main cap and the block as well?
flywheel bolts... the chiltons guide just says "use locktite" but nothing about "use new bolts" so didnt know if these were re-usable, or torque to yield... wanted to check...
Also, i understand that when replacing a clutch you need to have the flywheel re-surfaced. Is there anything that needs done to the pressure plate?
(i bought a lightly used centerforce clutch flywheel and pressure plate off a guy here on the org. they were supposedly all used together on his cavalier, but someone told me the flywheel changed between my 2002 and his late 90's... if i could use his flywheel, i assume i wouldnt need to turn anything as they are already worn into eachother. but if i use his clutch and pressure plate, then i assume i need my flywheel turned)
I bought a new timing chain... but there is no reason to replace the timing gears if they are in good shape is there?
hmmm what else... I am always forgetting something... and it isnt till the last second that i realize it, and then it turns out to be a special order, and i need 2 wait 2 weeks for the part to finish the job.
I already did the top end a few months ago... so that is all new and good. this is just my first time on the bottom end... so just thinking what else i may want or need.
