I noticed while doing the wifes fuel pump that the relay is really hot. To the point where I grabbed to kill the fuel pump and I actually pulled my hand back. It also melted the foam around it that sits underneath the fuse box cover. I'm going to go get another relay today and see if that fixes it but has anyone else ever ran into this?

not personally.
I would also check the condition of the wire inside the fuse box, there might be some oxidation causing that heat to build up.
meant to say fuel FILTER I'll take a good look inside and make sure everything looks OK. Before I buy a new relay I may swap in the one for my 'fire just to see if the same thing happens.
