Gas...WTH?

Hey guys, went to fill up the 2.2L and the gas station was out of everything but 91

So i got 91 octane for the price of the cheap stuff ...and i noticed it took longer to use that gas up then the cheap stuff.

Why is that? I usually go a week with the cheap stuff but with 91 i went week and a half...almost 2 weeks

Normally running high-test in an untuned stock engine is going to net you zero improvement or even a loss of efficiency. Often the engine needs to pull timing to prevent detonation.

Regardless, if you're sure you're getting an improvement in mileage, then go for it. I'd definitely judge by mileage instead of weeks though.

So higher grade fuel isn't recommended for stock motors?

i ran midgrade in my sunfire and had a little more go and a little less fill up, compared to regular. i think eventually it'll change your timing tables or w/e. midgrade ftw, unless you have a ford taurus.

You can get a increase without tuning with higher octane fuel, but it is not needed. There is amny factors involved.
