Hi, i have a problem with the front brakes on a cavalier 2000. The guide pins with the hex bolt there keeps jamming,.. i passed them on a steel buffer to remove a bit of the rust on them but still couldn't remove all of it. Even though, after a little while i had to remove the brakes again and they were hard to move as hell. This is causing the pads to wear uneven.
i called at the dealer to find out how much the pins was worth and he said that each pins come with the rubber sleeve for 20$.
any one here had to replace that on their car?
thanks
Yup, I have replaced several sets on many cars....you can get them at a parts store for a lot cheaper.
you need to grease them every time you do your brakes or else they will seize up like that
I allways put dielectric grease on them before I install them back

I put that on my spark plugs....not exactly meant for this application.
Try some synthetic brake caliper grease.
mine are seized now, need to tear into them and fix that problem. you can get re-man calipers and they come with new pins.
seems the problem is only on my 97, the 98 is perfectly fine.
