break chirp

OK, I have a chirp in the breaks, not a squeak. When I hit the breaks it quits. It started after I took the calipers off to paint them. Do you think I didnt tighten the breaks to the correct torque or maybe the paint interfering?

are you refering to a "chirp" sound WHILE your driving? as in it does it while the wheels are turning..but stops doing it when you hit the breaks?? if so then you need to lubricate your caliper pins....pull the 2 pins back out..ALL the way out and apply ample grease..any good thick grease will do...also check the pads closely and make sure that none of the small flat metal pieces that the pads rest on are rubbing the rotor........let me know what you find

Thansk for the info, I wil try the grease thing tomorrow. I do know the pads do SLIGHTLY rub on the rotors. But it has always been like that. ANDY, if you try the grease tonight, let me know, I am just too exhausted to try it tonight.

no it isn't a noise while a drive. It seems to be getting worse now, almost like my brakes are going, but they are perfectly fine! Metal Flake possibly? It just gets annoying because it makes it sound like a turd.

well, mine is definetely a chirp while I drive and the wheels are in motion, and it quits when I touch the breaks. So I will try my remedy tomorrow.
