first off my car hates oil filters for some reason they keep leaking or get holes in them and i dont know why but now my problem is my cars temp when im moving the temp stays right at 195 ( the good number ) but if im sitting still it will rise slowly and it seams like my car can sit for hours and still be hot so i thought it may be a bad fan fuse so i switched it with my heater/blower fuse (the same type) and the car blows heat fine so idono what my deal is ... could i have a bad fan ? HELP

Do you mean the car is over heating? or the blower has a problem?
Can you hear you fan starting up when the car starts to get real hot, pull the fan relay and check it over. Maybe even replace it. See if that makes a difference.

What ive noticed with the 2200 engines, is that the gauge will get up really high, and id say about 1/2-1/4in before it gets to the red, the fan cames on, at least with mine. You might try replacing the temp. sensor and see if it helps.
I doubt this has anything to do with oil....but what do you mean your filter gets holes?? I have only seen filters rust from not being changed in years that get holes, or hit by a rock or something, as far as leaking, clean the contact surface on the block, and follow the instructions on the filter, and be sure to lube the ring with clean oil.
I am assuming you are refering to the 2001 cav with 2200 thats in your registry here, and that it sounds like it is running hot.
1) as stated, can you hear a rad fan?
2)What is the amount and condition of your coolant? Do you have Mississippi mud syndrome from never flushing your dexcool??
3) how fast does it get to operating temp?
well thats the problem i let my car warm up to 195 and the fan never came on so i switched the fuse with the heater/blower fuse because i know that fuse works and still got nothing ... so could it be a fan motor ? i dont know much about this part of my engine
as for the oli i have went through 5 filters in the last 6 months , 2 have been in the last 4 days, they seem to keep leaking or getting holes, one even had a spot rubbed into the filter but i cleaned up the block and did ANOTHER oil change this week and its holding so far
yes this is my 2200 01 i am talkin about sorry i dident say that earlier but ya , what do i do now ?????

I'm also confused about the hole in the filter, if it's where mine is on my 2200 then it would be fairly hard for stones or rocks to flick up and damage it, its pretty well protected. Make sure your not damaging the filter when putting it on. As John said make sure you clean up the surface it mounts onto well and oil up the o-ring on the filter. Make sure when you pull the old filter off the old o-ring from the old filter is not still on the mounting surface. If you can, check the mounting surface for damage to. If you really can't find the source of the leak you can buy a die that you run through the system and drive it for a few k's and the look for the coloured die.

Is your exhaust loose? Maybe your flexpipe is hitting it?
What weight of oil are you using.. not like 10w40 or anything hahaha
most filters your supposed to tighten 1/2 turn after hand tight.. if you overtighten you can put a weak spot or a hole in the filter

check for a double gasket or leftover gasket from previous filters?
as for the temp thing, change your coolant.
check for the fan by turning on your a/c the fan should come on when you push the "a'c" button, and have your air on.
Double gaskets USUALLY loose large amounts of oil, relatively fast.....your motor would be locked up within a few miles I would say, although it is a possibility that I left out.
where are the temp switches ( temp sensors ) located on the 2200 ?
IF YOUR GONNA GO DOWN ... THEN GO DOWN IN FLAMES
Coolant temp sensor is located on the passenger side of the black coolant tube (metal) that goes across the front of the motor.
check the back of the engine, near the filter. lay under the car, looking up at it for this. there should be a bracket held on by three bolts. i had the same leaky oil filter/hole in filter/rubbed spot on filter problem, turns out two if the bolts had fallen out and the last was on three threads. new bolts and lockwashers will solve teh issue.

Are you refering to the bracket on the back of the power steering pump??

The fan isn't supposed to turn on at 195. I think it is closer to 220 before the fan actually is supposed to turn on.
take a picture of your oil filter,, if ur current one on the car start to leak get a pic of that too...
