My car has started making a knocking/ thumping noise when u drive and only when u drive! By this i mean when the wheels r im motion. It seems when the wheels hit a certain rotation point the thump, thumps...and the faster i go the more fequent it becomes...now i thought MAYBE this was a sign of new brake pads so i replaced them...nope still there. Now i cant tell if its comming from the left or right side but its loud but not loud enough to hear with the stero on. Im making a 9hr trip next month so i need this fixed ASAP! What could be causing this? CV joints? Low tranny fluid?
P.S: Is teh tranny suppose to whine when shifting? Cause if not suppose to?

Why would brake pads cause a pulsing thump? The pad's don't rotate, the brake rotors do which, if they had a bump in them, would hit the pad at a certain point each rotation, clearly. I'm not sure how people think pads are the answer to a rotor issue.
However this sounds more like a transmission issue.

Check your tires, look for lumps etc. Maybe even rotate them, if the noise moves with the tires then theres a pretty good chance you have bad tires, if not then you can push that idea to the side for a while.
Transmission whine can be common in some cars but maybe check the fluid level and condition and maybe even change the fluid and filter.
