Running hot after GM replacement coolant?

Hi,

I just had my coolant on my 96 Sunfire replaced by GM, I think I had the green coloured coolant in originally, now it is orange, and the temp on the car would usually be hovering between 1/4 and 1/2 on the temp gauge.
Now, it is always close to the 3/4 range after the car warms up and I am not an agressive driver and the outside temperature is still pretty cool. Is this normal or should I go back and let GM know?

Thanks in advance.

^could very well be. But, the head gaskets on those are known for failure, symptoms are coolant loss, and running high temps.
Green coolant should not be in there after '95 model year, the colors do not mix together well, and could gel up. whoever did it should have drained the block, and flushed the system prior to adding dex-cool (the orange stuff), sounds like either you got a hack job, or a bad head gasket. Like stated prior, if the system was not bled properly, that could be the issue, and a simple fix.
Take it back to who did it, or if it was you, have the car checked out by a good mechanic.

my cav has a similar issue. i replaced my motor and radiator recently. it runs perfect at 190* when im moving, but if im sitting (in traffic for a long period of time) temps creep up to the "kick on point for the fan" and it seems to have a hard time coming back down. any thoughts?

^that is normal for warmer temps, so I would not worry about it unless it runs way hot.
My eco will run a bit higher on the gauge than195 if stuck in stop and go traffic, and cool back down once I start moving.
