Possible Wheel Bearing issues
Thursday, May 08, 2008 6:04 AM
Just bought a 2004 Cavalier LS sedan last week and I was getting a huming sound that I could feel thru the steering wheel. Everytime I turned the steering wheel to the right, the sound went away. Took it back to the dealership and they said the drivers front wheel bearing was bad and they replaced it. Well I still have the exact same noise. Not sure if the passenger side front wheel bearing is bad also. Anyone have similar problems with theirs?

wel good chance there are both gone..do thesame thing though..drive down the highway and see what way you have to turn the wheel to make the sound disapear....if you have to turn right to make the sound go away take it back to the dealer and make them redo the job right...if you have to turn left then the other side s gone...Welcome to jbody drivtrain issues...get used to replacing wheel bearings and strut mounts lol..

I have exactly the same problem, same side to. Now mine has gotten so loud I have to turn the radio up to be comfortable in my car. Let me know what happens. The last shop I took it to said I had tranny issues (the same shop that replaced the hub). They put a stethoscope to it, and said the hubs were fine (I knew they were crooks

the usual check for wheel bearings is jack the car up then see if you can move the wheel. if there's play in the wheel (you can shake it up/down or left/right) then the bearing is going. noise going away when you turn the wheel is just as probable an indicator though
