Well i just recently discovered that my 2000 Sedan was starting to consume a bit of oil, not a lot, just enough to get me to worry. It has the 2200 Engine with a 3spd auto. There seems to be oil between the tranny and engine on the bottom. Dad thinks it could be my main seal? How much am i looking at to repair this, or what else could this be. I will get pictures to show you what it is, as soon as i get my car on jacks again. Any help is appreciated.

How much oil are you leaking?
Not sure about the 2200 but the Eco requires engine removal for the rear seal. Front can be done by pulling the front cover on it.
for $15.00 you can get an alldatadiy.com membership for a year to get an idea of what your dealing with if your going to replace it yourself.

not too much oil at all, none of it ever touches the ground. It just kinda seeps onto the engine/tranny a bit. Caught my attention, and not sure what i should do, being that it is a minor leak.....?

check and make sure your not leaking trans fluid first. i thought I had a leaking seal once, but followed the trail and i hadn't got my CV shaft all the way in.
The question is how bad is the leak, how much do you lose say once a month? Need to weigh the cost vs benefit of labor to repair vs say dropping a 1/2 quart in every month. The environmentalist in me says repair it, the economist in me says divide quarts over ownership time of car vs cost of repair.
Worst case, take it to a mechanic and pay their "diagnostic" fee to find out what exactly your dealing with and how much they would charge to fix it.
If its not even hitting the ground its probably not much to worry about. Trace it back to the origin point. if you degrease the area(provided its dirty) it'll be easier to follow the trail of oil to where its coming from.

i'll will check it out when i do my oil change in about a month, too lazy to lift it all up right now. Hopefully nothing major, or else i might have to let the car go. Not willing to spend that much right now on that car.

Smart decision. You always have to weigh and balance your options.
When I replaced my last car it was because the maintanence was running me more than a new car payment on my sunfire.
If your not constantly topping off the oil you'll probably be able to get a long for a while before you decide how to proceed.
Best case scenario its a from your valve cover and is a really cheap fix.

Could be the oil pan leaking as well. Mine is dampish right below the rear main on the oil pan saddle. Wasn't sure which was seeping until I pulled the tranny to replace the clutch.
Here are some pictures of the leak i took when i was changing my oil yesterday. It seems to be just seeping out of somewhere!! Getting messier though, ever since i discovered it. Tell me where this is leaking from, and how much this may cost me! BTW it is a 2200 with a 3spd auto, base model. Thank You!

2000 Cavalier Sedan.

2000 Cavalier Sedan.
need some better pics dude. look at the first one, what you are trying to do is look PAST the oil pan, #1 cut off the flash, #2 get a really bright flash light and then put the light on the rear main seal and then take a picture(at night, you can try day tho)
stop freaking... just think of it this way, you dont have to change your oil, it changes itself, just change filters
