I have a 2000 2.2. Lately the car will cut out...no rpms then it will either kick back in or backfire. Now today it happened about 3 times and all 3 times when the car backfired it stalled out. I have recently changed the fuel filter, plugs, and wires. I have no cel. A friend said it is in the ignition somwhere and could be the ICM. Does that sound right...or any other ideas?
Thanks

It could be the ICM, it could be a leaking fpr. pull the vaccum line off, start the car and see if you get fuel coming out of the fpr. If you do, the diaphragm is ruptured and need replacing, causing fuel to be sucked into the intake and your problem.
Test the plugs by pulling them, unplugging your fuel relay and turning the car over. See if you get spark in all 4, if its only in 2 then you've got a bad coil.
good luck!.
