I have a 01 cav. 2.2 auto and when I am cruising mostly at 60 and 70mph the rpm's will jump about 200-300 and sometimes will do it for about 15sec constant and quick and might do it 2-3 times a day then it will stop for a couple of days then do it again (unpredictable) it does it anywhere too. It dosent have any codes and the check engine light dosent come on. The cruise control also will kick off randomly and sometimes will not turn on and when my rpm's jump I havent had the cruise on but had stayed at constant speed. Does anyone have any suggestions to this problem thx for replies.

It could be the torque converter clutch kicking in and out. That might be a good place to start.
