Hope someone can help. I have an 01 Sunfire, and just recently the driver side electric window takes forever to come back up. Goes down fine, and the passenger side is fine up and down. Do I need a new motor, and what kind of problem to replace. Thanks!

Just fixed one of mine this weekend...the first time you do it, you will need to drill out the pop rivets. There are 4 holding the window actuator on and I think 3 or 4 holding the motor to the actuator. Remove the speaker for added room.
You might want to get an extra set of hands to help hold the glass up when you remove the window regulator. You will have to compress the regulator and try to wiggle it out of the biggest hole in the door.
When you put it back in, I found it easier to move the window up and down to get to the various bolt holes. You could also pop rivet it back into place....but then you may have to drill them back out.
I assume your first time will be a solid two hours if you take your time. But it beats the $600 or so the dealership might charge.

Heres the theory;
Gravity assists the window going down, obviously..so it needs very little power to roll the window down. On the other hand, weight of the window is straining the window motor, causing it to work harder, which will cause overheating in some cases (in this case our cars, heh). J-body's are known for having bad power window motors, this will be my third or so battle at power windows.
First time it was just the driver's side. Then passengers side front and rear went out, now the driver's side front AND rear are going out.
Heres some advice, go to walmart, get some low sticky blue contractors tape. It leaves alot less residue on the window (almost none) when you pull the tape off. When you replace the rivets, use bolts. Will make it alot easier the next time the motor goes out (notice I didn't say IF, because it WILL happen again, probably within a year or two)
I've done all of them by myself, but they were time consuming.
If you need any help while going through it, just shoot me a PM and I'll be glad to help.
