spray copper on a head gasket?

The guys at my parts store tell me to use this spray "copper head gasket sealant" on my new head gasket before i install it... they claim it is really good stuff and they suggest it for everyone....

any one else know anything about this? I just want to make sure it isnt some crappy gimmick that the autoparts place tells their employees to push.... The guys up there are usually good sources of info....

so yeah or neigh on the spray copper?

(mind you my car is supercharged and runs about 7-8psi, on top of 9.7:1 compression... so my gasket needs all the help it can get... )

I put copper spray on my Cometic MLS headgasket.... A well known engine builder in my area highly recommended it.

I don't know how well it would work on a regular gasket though- never tried.

Graphite, being a stock fel-pro??

So you say no on a stock gasket, but yes on a hard performance gasket....

Any reason it would NOT work on a stock one? would it be BAD? or just not help?

Any other opinions?

the fel-pro gasket is better than the stock one. I use the copper spray with them. No problems.

ok, you guys who swapped head gaskets...

to pull the head... do you need to pull the crank pulley?

I dont see how the crank pulley could be easily removed with the engine in the car... and i dont know how you can do the head without taking off the timing cover, which the crank pulley is in the way of.

what am i missing here....
