Oil Flow

I read this on someones forum -----Str33tphyre, the 2002 Eco has a weak oiling system to the timing chain.

There's a service bulletin, the dealer must have it.

It involves a kit which increases oil flow after installation.

BE SURE GM gets this modification done.

Is this true?? I've told my chevy dealer stuff before and they told me not to believe half the stuff i read on the internet. How many people know this is true? If it is shouldn't it be done to every 2002 eco??

If its a TSB then its not a recall and the dealer won't do it for free. TSB's are nothing more than "if this is happening, then this is the cause and this is how to fix it". Recalls are something completely different.

Some of the first gen ECOtecs in 03 to 04...The oiler that Sends oil to the chain had a bypass ball in it that..Somtimes had a problem Sticking closed..On all 05 and up ECOtecs the oiler has no bypass ball in it so it will not cause a problem..this is what I was told if anyone knows Different please correct me..From what i understand there was never a recall..But if you are in there doing work just go to GM and buy the new one..Thats what I did it was 50 Bucks..I think..hope this helps
