hey trying to fix my g/f's car...
having the headlight problem and searched to find its the bad headlight / combo switch on the steering column.
anyone have any pictures of what it looks like or where exactly on the column its located? How much does the new switch cost?
Thanks in advance
also, it's a 2003 sunfire...
Is it the actual lever with the turn signals etc. and all?

you should also replace the wiper switch with an extra turn signal lever...........you cant be to safe, what if the new goes out, you would have a back up!
i had to replace mine over a year ago so this is all from memory. the switch was roughly about a two inch square with the lever coming out of it. i had a real good deal on it cuz i worked for a dealer at the time. about $20 if i remember. take off the steering column cover (3 screws on thr bottom), and the switch was held on by a coule screws and the connector. take out the horn fuse or disconnect the battery or you will keep accidentally sounding the horn while working. not a hard job, but the angle and space you have to work with could be better.
Well I replaced the switch, $80 from autozone.
made no differance at all, so I troubleshooted the problem for a while, thought I had a dead relay on the wire harness under the front drivers side headlight, so I replaced that and still didnt fix the problem.
After some new bulbs and an entire day of troubleshooting wasted I took it to the stealership and the wire harness was bad, so $400 later all fixed.
I wasnt about to go patching wires.
MarkDH720 is right, the horn goes off alot when replacing the switch. Definatley worth removing the fuse.
and it's not too hard to replace, just getting the bottom steering column cover off was a pain in the butt, and accessing the bottom 7mm screw that holds the switch in isnt the easiest either.
