i have a 1998 cavalier base its the 2200 motor with the 3 speed tranny. the abs light kept come on and off so i took it to the dealer. this is what they saidmultiple ABS codes stored in the history as if intermittently. there is a loss of power found that the battery is being drained buy a high parasitic dra traced battery drain to a proplm with the alarm module. reccomend starting with the replacement of the alarm modual to eliminate batter drain.
so what my question is if. i get this alarm modulel with that fix my ABS? also where is this alarm module in the car so i can go take it out and see if i can get one from a junkyard. any help would be great thanks!
If its a factory keyless, its in the trunk on the left fenderwell, if its aftermarket, look under the driver side dash for a small black box that doesn't look factory. Personally though, if your lights are not dimming at night, and the car runs fine, there shouldn't be that big a drain on the battery to cause the ABS system to trip a code, did they test the battery itself, along with the alternator? If not, go to Autozone or some other parts store that can test your charging system and see what they tell you.
i have had the car siting in my driveway for about a week in the cold go to start it up and it will start right up no proplem. so i dont think my battery is geting drained. the car does not have any remote for anything. if there is a keyless entry thats aftermarket i dont have the remote. the alarm i think there talking about is the one that controles the hot wire thing where it shuts the fuel off.
