I've had my 98' sunfire gt (2.4) looked at from a couple different mechanics and there are a couple things that are being pointed at. If anyone can maybe help me narrow it down it would be sweet. It seems to be more of a fuel issues but things for me is pointing towards the o2 sensor.
Whats going on with it.....
1. When I start it up it bogs out and fights its way for idle and releases a gas smell.
2. When I stop at a redline/stop sign, when I start to go it will bog out.
3. I have no leaking hoses.
4. My check engine light has not came out yet.
5. It sputters when I'm driving every once in a while.
I have a 98 sunfire se, it did the same thing. It really sounds like the o2 sensor. But it could also be one of your plugs
Sounds as if something is on the way out... I would try cleaning the IAC valve and throtle body and see how it goes.
Next on my suspect list will be the coil housing I am on my third.
