FIXING A HEADGASKET ON A 2.2 DOES NOT COST $600.

you could do it yourself with three hours and about $75, start to finish.

around here hourly cost at a mechanic is aroung 70-80 dollars an hour. but i did do head gasket job last fall which i spent roughly 200 on parts. when i bought the gasket kit, it came with the headgasket, intake manifold gasket, upper and lower manifold gasket, all the smaller gaskets needed, and all the O-rings. i also bought new oil and new antifreeze. oh the kit was from felpro i believe. if you do deside to do it yourself make sure you get the head machined.

It's "standard procedure" to also replace the head bolts...

(I don't know anyone who has re-used the old head bolts, so
don't know what can happen in that case...)

Hopefully someone else will explain....

I just noticed today that my oil and coolant are mixing and i belieave that it just happend cuz i checked my oil last week thursday and nothing and i didnt drive it thease last 3 days untill late yesterday and i checked it today and seen the milky look and also oil still in there. I guess i just cought it in time. I just looked at the felpro kit and i dont think i need all them other gaskets so should i just order the head gaskit and the head bolts?

yes.

You can leave oil out of your car for as long as you need to. As long as you don't plan on cranking it. get the coolant out of there asap!

get the kit AND the bolts. the kit has all the gaskets you'll need to get TO the head gasket, and its never a bad idea to change teh gaskets that are geting old. NEVER reuse head bolts, our bolts are torque-to-yeild, which means once they're torqued PROPERLY, the next time you try to torque them, they simply keep stretching. you WILL NOT get an accurate measurement, as well as running the risk of snapping.
