Eco Fuel Tank
Saturday, October 27, 2007 7:27 PM
Matt Q and myself are in the process of switching my fuel pump (Eco). We are currentlly having problems getting the tank to drop. We have disconnected eveything, including the straps and pulled the heat shielf around a pop rivet so it all moves freely. i seems to be rather tight owards the rear of the tank. Is there anything holding the tank on from the top or what? Any suggestions are more than welcome since we only have tomarrow to complete the project. If you need picures of where we are at we can get them too. Thanks for the help!

Unlike most, the tank doesn't drop downward....

It has to be slid sideways out the right hand wheel well...

I'm sure you did already, but disconnect the fuel filler and vent hoses too.....

Yep...we had everything disconnected...would have loved to replace the fuel filter since I have a new one, but is was rusted tight. Gonna take care of that this weekend though.

Heres the story...lol

I finally replaced my fuel pump (rant about that too follow), but everything is good now. WOT AFR is 12.1:1 so a little tuning is needed, but it feels MUCH better.

So when I was planning on replacing the pump I saw that most were using a Walboro fuel pump. Using the part number on the ORG I located the 255 version, but opted for the 190/hr since I don't plan on boosting. When I got it everything looked good.

Flash to 6 o'clock Saturday night...dropped the tank out...stupid "quick release" clips! So then on Sunday...Matt and I are disassembling the stock sending unit in order to replace the pump. Got to the pump and pulled it out. Pulled the lines off of the stock pump (both were on male ends), but when I went to install them on the new pump the larger line was still a male end, but the smaller line was a female end. We then spent an hour looking for a fitting to connect the line to the pump, to no avail. Finally give up on getting the two ends together around 8 pm and bought the whole sending unit for $255 at Advanced Auto Parts. Got it to his house and had everything put back together by 9:30pm.

Now I have a 190 gal per hour fuel pump and have no use for it. I will contact the place I bought it from to see how to return it unless someone has a use for it.
