03 Eco Rear Main Replacement
Friday, September 28, 2007 11:23 PM
A couple of us here in Missoula are rebuilding an 03 Ecotec and we are stuck on how the heck you get the rear main seal into place. We don't have the nifty tool thats required to put it in, any suggestions (other than getting the tool) on how to do this. We have heard of people using a block of wood but we aren't sure if thats a good way of going about it.

The motor is out and stripped down, we are working on getting it back together, short block is together, no oil pan or flywheel on right now. Its going into a 5spd.

Any ideas or pics would be helpful.
