Excuse me if any of this has been mentioned before, I did a search and didn't find anything.
A friend had told me the wonders of Seafoam, so I went and picked some up and added it to my oil as it said I could on the can. Well, what I didn't know was you don't leave it in there. I added it right AFTER I changed my oil. Well, just the other day I started having a problem with my oil light coming on once the engine had warmed up and was at idle or slightly above. The light would go off when I accelerated. After doing a search on here, I found that I shouldn't have done what I did. So I immediately went and had my oil changed. I think that helped a little, as it now only comes on occasionally once warm and only at idle (not above). My question is, have I done any serious damage? Is there anything I can do to possibly fix this problem without taking the car in to a shop? I am "somewhat" mechanically inclined as long as I have good directions. Is my oil pump failing, or perhaps the pressure switch? Could this be completely unrelated to the misuse of the Seafoam?

Sorry, I don't have any input, except that next time, pour the seafoam (slowly) into the throttle body while it's running, or add it with a tank of gas. Good luck Dave!

I'd worry about your bearings, though if you haven't done any immediate damage, there's not too much cause for worry.
Next time, always read directions thoroughly.

Most likely the screen over the pickup on the oil pump is partially clogged with semi-dissolved deposits....
Pulling the oil pan and cleaning the screen should be done quickly...
Is it difficult to pull the oil pan?
Putting seafome in you oil shouldn't hurt anything.
It probably just cleaned out you engine enough to clog something.
Pull the oil pan and filter (not hard), and check everything. Than flush the hell out of it.
i would also pick up a container of "engine flush" .. if theres any remaining seafoam left.. that will get rid of it...
but read the directions closely for it..

I wouldn't use any type of flush until after you get the seafoam out of there and clean the oil pick-up (if it's clogged). Otherwise, if you do have a clogged pickup, the flush could just break off more crud and make the problem worse.

pull the pan and clean the screen I put seafoam into an LD9 (2.4) with 116K and it died almost instantly. Heres what happened to me...
Put Seafoam into oil Late one night(just like the can says)
Stated Car for a few minutes and let sit for a couple days (was working out of town)
Ran around a while when i got back(just like can says)
Started hearing clunking after about 10 miles(oh crap)
Drained Oil and you would not beleive what came out of engine. Large Clumps of crap and the seafoam had gelled up.
It plugged my oil filter and i lost oil pressure, this in turn caused a rod bearing to spin. Now...i have a new crank shaft and bearings

Exactly, my thoughts. I'm not much of a fan of motor flush because of that fact, plus once you get to really high mileage its almost best to leave the deposits alone as they may be holding the engine together
