I have a damaged front bumper.
There's a 4" by 1/8'' gash.
I repaired (filled in) the gash using a plastic bumper repair kit.
I then sanded it flush.
Question :
Do I have to prime the filler and the plastic around it before I paint it?
There's about 25 square inshes of plastic around the repaired gash that has to be painted as well.
After I paint it, should I use a clear coat over top of the paint?
I have colour matched paint (black) to paint with.
Thanks
Walt
Painting exterior plastic like the bumper covers is almost the same as painting sheet metal, except for the additives you need in the paint to allow for flexibility to keep the paint from cracking. From everything I've read on the exterior forum, if you have to ask something like the above, you should really consider having the paint work done at a shop, you will very likely not be satisfied with the results if you do it yourself, especially if its black.
