synthetic cause leak and knock?

i switched to mobil 1 when i hit 105k. everything was fine till about a month ago when i noticed alot of oil on parts in my engine bay. when i took my idi cover and my intke pipe off to get them powdercoated i noticed alot of oil on top of the head and some in the intake pipe.. could the synthetic have cleaned up all the dyno oil gunk that good that it caused the gaskets to leak? also i noticed that my engine seems to be knocking pretty hard. wut is it that causes the knock? i dont have many mods and i keep the oil changed regularly. wut should i look for? but my big thing is should i just get the gaskets replaced or start to rebuild an extra motor? my friend has one that im gonna use and i dont wanna put 700 into repairing this one when i can use it toward the rebuild... i was quoted about 450 just to do the gaskets and 550 to get my secret cams installed, so i might as well go with the cams if im gonna get the gaskets done so it can all be included.. wut do u guys think i should do?

synthetic oils tend to be a thiner oil when really hot, thinner than coventional oils....and since you have a vehicle that has 105k miles that might have very very small leaks in the gasket, etc.. a regular conventional oil might not escape from that small leak since they a thicker, but since the synthec is thinner it will.....hope that helps
