How in the world do you get this blasted thing out? I tried months ago but gave up. The Haynes says to unbolt all the mounts and lower the engine/tranny but I can't get them to drop down enough to get enough clearance. I'm short about an inch and there's no way to slide the mount off the tranny.
have a picture, hard to picture this to be honest
- 2004 Cavalier - 124k, owned since new
The mount slides onto a knuckle on the side of the transmission. There's only about an inch of clearance between that knuckle and the wheel well and I can't get the motor to drop low enough to clear the wheel well. If I can get it to drop another inch or two I'd be set.
i'd like to know how to get this off also... i've actually unbolted the mount bracket, from the trans, but still couldn't get the mount off the bracket... would really like to know seeing everyother mount has been changed and its got 140k on it
I really need to find out how this is supposed to be done. My tranny is banging around all over the place when I turn.
try unbloting the top motor mount. you'll obviously need to support the engine somehow but that will give you the inch you need
