2 questions throttle body and reverse lights

i have an 02 cavy and just decided to clean the throttle body

1. do i have to take the throttle body off
2. is there anyway the throttle body/ intake cleaner can hurt my car

also my reverse lights never worked since i had the car

1. how do i fix it
2. is it worth fixing it

actually i just looked in my throttle body and its black but there are no chunks anywere to stop the air flow so i think its good

No its supposed to be silver on the inside all that carbon buildup is disturbing the air flow and could damage sensors, if its all black it needs to be cleaned. Just follow the directions on the can.

Spray,wipe with rag,and try checking your bulbs

Your reverse lights are not working due to a bad reverse lamp switch, I will bet. Get a new one and swap it. Mounts to the back of the tranny right above the drivers axle.

Remove driver side wheel, remove the fender liner, and the reverse light switch will almost literally be staring you in the face on the trans. Unplug the wires, unscrew the switch, screw in the new, plug it in, turn the key on and put it in reverse to test the lights, put the fender liner back on, then the wheel, and you should be good to go.

alright checked with gm and they said that the switch is a 300 dollar part wtf? are they blowin smoke up my ass.

okay just went to auto zone and they said 25.99 w/o tax for the reverse switch part # RB451 i assume this thing just screws in i haven't bought it yet
