On my 04 cavy if i get stuck in traffic, or at a drive-thru or whatever my fan doesnt kick on when it should which causes my car to overheat. We checked all the fuses and stuff and its all good. Im guessing its some kind of sensor. Could someone let me know if thats whats wrong and where the sensor is located? thanks!
Did you check the cooling fan relay? The coolant temp sensor sends a signal to the ECM and it orders the fan to kick on and off.Donīt know where it is in a 04. The 96-99 2.4 have it in the water neck, driver side close to the power steering pump. Do your fan comes on when you put the A/C? If so replace the coolant temp sensor, if it doesnīt check the electical connector to the fan motor or the fan motor itself.Hope this helps.
like he said,
go out side, turn the car on, turn the AC on, pop the hood, and check if the fan comes on
and then, come back and let us know if the fan came on or not
thanks guys ill check that out tomorrow at work..ill post back tomorrow during the day.
any updates on this? My dads just started doing that. and we can't figure it out.
If your fan dosnt come on with the A/C and you find out its not the sensor or the relay then you need to have the QDM (quad driver module) checked out via a computer scan tool. If the QDM is bad then you need a new PCM to fix it. I recently went through this myself.
