hey. i have bought some tint for my rear window at wal-mart. and would like to no what is the best way to put this on. I have read the instructions and would also like your guy's input on what you think i should do and not do. Thanks
This shouldn't be in the maintenance forum.. it should be in the interior or exterior forum...but to help anyway... load the glass down with glass cleaner, (after its completely clean), apply the tint, and then use an application tool (little rubber/plastic squeegey thing), to push out all the cleaner from the center out. This allows you to get the tint on streight and reduce wrinkles and bubbles. Make sure you give it plenty time to dry. Personally I'de just have a tint shop do everything.
if your posting here on how to do a back window u mids well return the tint to walmart and save ur self some money and time, because a back window is no where for a rookie to even begin to start

I'd like to think that I'm not an inept person, and I still
completely screwed up attempting to tint my car. I read the instructions, got the tools, and even bought pre-cut pieces. I still ended up trying and failing twice, before paying a pro to do it. Anyone can tint a flat pane of glass -- but our glass is curved, especially the rear. The effect can be likened to trying to smoothly wrap a basketball in paper. If you must learn this on your own, then I have the following advice:
a) Clean the windows. A lot.
b) Don't apply while in direct sunlight.
c) You can't use too much application fluid.
d) Pull out the rear deck ahead of time, and do the rear window in
at least two horizontal strips, with a seam along a defroster line. This changes the difficulty from "bloody impossible" to merely "fricking annoying".
e) Razor blades and defroster lines are mortal enemies.
f) If you screw up and need to abort, the sooner the better. If the adhesive sets up, removal and cleanup involves a lot of ammonia and asphyxiation.
g) Do a better job than I did.
h) Have the number on speed dial for a guy to re-do it.
Good luck.

you guys forgot something... get a heatgun.. or your g/f hairdryer.. tape the tint onto the outside of the curved window you will be tinting. next hit it with the heatgun.. keep some distance.. use a squeegy to form the tint to your window.. then peel the tint and apply.. use as much water (distilled) as possible.. the more the better.. and use your queegy to apply.. i suggest you pull your rear speakers.. so your elbow dosent f*ck it up.. the edges of the tint will have bubbles like crazy.. pull the tint back.. douche it with your water.. and re-apply.. have patience.. just DONT CREASE IT. give a little heat and your golden.. plan on having a buddy with you for a helper.. and plan on spending a good 1 1/2 hour on the back window. gl
