For several weeks now I've had a Service Light on. The yellow one with the little wrench, not the red "Check Engine" light. I've already brought the car to both Autozone and a local reputable mechanic, and both of them said there is no code in the system. I've checked the headlights (high / low beam), turn signals, brake lights, etc. and all of those seem to work fine. The car also doesn't seem to be running poorly and fuel economy does not seem to be suffering. I'm wondering what the light might mean? I really don't want to bring it to the dealer as they are a huge rip-off and will probably screw me over as they have in the past. I've thought about maybe seeing if I can have the Cadillac dealer check it (looking to buy a CTS soon) but I don't want it to hurt the trade-in value.
The car is a 2000 Cavalier 2.2L (2200 engine), no modification except for audio equipment which has been running fine for years without any issues.
I tried searching this forum but it seems that everyone who has had Service light is either getting it in combination with other lights (trac-off / ABS) or it's a simple headlight blown out issue.
turn the key on and press the gas pedal 3 times within 5 seconds

That trick will only work with the stock radio headunit, no? He has an aftermarket one now... unless his old one is in the trunk.
There will always be someone faster than you, but thousands slower and dumber than you.
