2.4L Oil leak

Hey guys,

My 2001 Z24 just got out of GM warranty and the extended warranty that I bought and now its developed an oil leak at 73k miles. I took a look up top by taking off the IDI cover (no oil), then I took a look underneath, the side with the tranny/engine looks clean (I took of the cover), then I took a look in the back by the exhaust manifold and I saw some oil dripping there. I noticed the oil dipstick going in there I think it might be the culprit because there is some oil around that area. But another thing is that some of that oil is spread around away from the dipstick (to the right of it). Any tips about this or common oil leaks on the 2.4?

Check the water pump to chain cover nuts. Thats where you put the oil in at the top of the car.

Mine leaked out of the oil pressure sender, but there was oil in the spark plug valley under the IDI cover. It was a major leak. Good luck finding yours. Dave

where is the oil pressure sender on the 2.4? I hate diagnosing leaks.

Another thing I also felt around the headgasket and cam cover gasket and it all felt dry around.

The pressure sensor is located on the intake cam carrier on the side next to the P/S pump.

i went out there and checked it doesnt seem wet (no fresh oil) around the oil pressure sender.

My tranny fluid has not been changed at 72k do you guys think the color might be the same as oil? Because I know usually its red.

I noticed it leaks when it stands, I ran the engine yesterday at 2-3k rpm for a min and there was no oil on the ground.

I guess I will have to pressure wash and degrease the engine to see exactly where the hell this thing is coming from. I hate leaks!!

I think I found it... I felt around the pressure switch and then I reached under the powersteering pump, just at the connection of the P/S pump and cam shaft and I pull and my hand has fresh oil on it.
