Hey, i recently blew out an oil seal on the pully side of my ecotec. i was wondering if anybody had some idea of where to start looking for a bad seal. Or maybe someone had the same issue, and found the problem, could maybe help me. any help would really be appreciated
What it is leaking at the crank pulley, if so rear main seal is shot.
I dont believe you have to pull the engine, you need to remove the oil pan, and the crankshaft though, it isnt easy to do.

ok well, took a power washer to the motor and found a hole about 1 inch in diameter on the oil pan. im not really sure what belongs there. its above the oil plug and on the right side of the oil pan. im not really sure how else to explain it.
ok well i found out what the problem was. theres is a plug on the side of the oil pan that gets glued in after they machine a hole for the pickup. i dont know if anybody else had had this problem before but the guys at the dealer have never heard of anything like this. i can get a new plug for 7 dollars so i guess ill have to do that.
and yet another problem, the front crankshaft seal is done. and of course not a single company carries this part. and everyone that does has the wrong part (2.2 but not ecotec). so basicly i was wondering if anyone had anygood luck at anyautoparts stores. Obviously the dealer can get parts but i would like to not pay 300% on parts. also what normally would cause this to go bad. the car has 85000 miles on it. thanks
i own a 1983 Chevy Camaro... i just changed the oil about a week ago... it had 60psi for the oil pressure which is how it read when i bought the car...the only why i know there is enough oil in it is the pressure b/c it has no dip stick b/c of the manifolds(suppose to have headers)... its in my uncle's garage and he told me that there was a puddle of oil behind the rear tire... i went over there tonight and now it has absolutely no oil pressure.... what could be the problem...
um....as to why it would be behind the rear tire i couldnt tell you. also, are you sure the guage even works? and if you do an oil change on it how do you know if your oil level is good if theres no dipstick? and if you took off the dipstick did you fill the hole in the block from it?
