Just wondering if anyone else has this problem. My E-Tec 2.2 smokes on cold mornings, which directs a foul stench of exhaust smoke through the vents. As previouly posted, it seems to be coming from the exhaust manifold. Could it be as simple as loose manifold bolts? Sounds like the gasket is fairly stout and may not be the cause. Are there any emissions related parts back there that could fail and cause this leak, as well?
Check your gaskets first. Most likely its gaskets but it could be a cracked manifold, or rusted thru exhaust although highly doubtfull. How much smoke are you talking about?

Bad enough to see a small cloud comming from the drivers side of the engine during warmup. I don't get smoke in the passenger compartment, thankfully, but I do get the fumes. It's dangerous and I need a fix.
