My Airbag light solved!!
Saturday, March 17, 2007 3:59 PM
So my airbag light on my 03 cavalier has been on for a while, so after I got some money saved up I took it to the dealer to get serviced for it. After 2 hours of testing the guy had said I had a faulty passenger side airbag and that it would have to be replaced, and that to replace it with labor would be about $1,122.00. So I denied getting it serviced, but I was glad to find out where the problem was located. So the next day I decided to take my dashpad off and take out my passenger side airbag. I work at a bodyshop and we also have mechanic so I had him check out my airbag. He found that the connection that was plugged into the bag was corroded and loose so he cleaned up really good and tightened it down, and we plugged it back in and the light went off! so i just wanted you guys to know this incase your airbag comes on to check this as a possibility, I asked him if going over bumps and we all the know how much cavalier dashes rattle was the cause of this and he said could be.

I am still baffled my the fact that the dealer wanted 1,220 to take the dash pad off, and replace the air bag. That seems way overpriced. That would prolly take about 15 minutes to complete from start to finish.

airbag isnt cheap, and ehy would charge a couple of hours, they arent as fast as us you know...they have to take their time taking each screw out and then probably play with the old airbag till it deploys then get a new one

When I had the accident last year, the driver's airbag was $895 and the passenger was $1095 not including labor.
