lower rad hose + ac compressor = hole in hose

i have a 2.2 2000 cavy the lower rad. hose has a hole in it from the ac compressor rubbing and was wondering if anyother car lower hose will work to replace it 46 dollars for a new one liek mayeb a sunfoire with a 2.2

To prevent it from happening again, locate some plastic 'conduit' similar to that used for sheathing wiring.

You probably won't find it hanging on the shelf in the size you need, but they make it. Best bet would be to look in a home improvement store. Auto parts stores may carry it, but it will probably be listed under a "part #" for a specific application. It's what many manufacturers use to protect hoses when they route close to or in contact with other parts. Check Jeep parts...the 4.0 in Wranglers and Cherokees have a similar sleeve on the upper rad hose, where it routes around the AC compressor.

Dead post, but you can also get a length of cheap vinyl hose thats about the same diameter as the rad hose, cut it lengthwise, and put it around the hose where its rubbing. Not as pretty as the black electrical conduit fix, but works just as good.
