wiper delay not working

Wipers work fine on low and high speed, but when on variable delay setting, they just work as if there on low speed. Would the problem be fixed by changing the wiper control arm off the steering column or does the problem lie elswhere?

Thanks in advance.

Although I'm not sure technically you would think it would be in the wiper switch. Maybe you have a wire broken that is only related to the delay function?

Maybe try swapping the arm with another before you buy .

Well Marc Chevarie, I believe their is a wiper relay unit underneath the dash that could be burnout, Also could have wornout, Delay switch as well.

When my wipers in my Grand Am started screwing up, it was the "pulse board." It is located right with the wiper motor. I believe a few other GM's use that same set up. I'm not sure if the J-bodies do or not, but I'd go to your dealer and ask them if that would cause your problem. If that's the case, real easy to replace, def do it yourself. Good luck.

Cool, I will definitely check on that as soon as the dealer is open again, cuz it's a pain having to use the "mist" instead of intermittent since the wiper's "park" when not in use... lol

The switch contains all the bits on the J-body... no separate boards hiding elsewhere in the car.

Go to a wrecker, find the newest car with delay wipers that you can find... grab the switch. Shouldn't cost you more than $10.. new, they're around $50.
