EGR Block off plate

I see that they sell these for my engine what are they for? and does your car run with out the egr and the plate instead?

1999 2.2L upwards does not use EGR. Ecotec does not use EGR. What model year are you talking about?

i got a 2.4l from a 1999 sunfire in my 1997 sunfire gt egr is givin me greif its makin noise and its just causin problems are a cruising speed. but the damn thing is so expensive and this engine does have an egr unless im seeing things lol

Yes, that engine has an EGR. You will have problems though if you block it off. Firstly, the computer uses it to determine running conditions and you will always have a CEL on. Also, you will lose power. The 1998 Cavalier 2.2L is 120hp with EGR and the 1999 2.2L is 115hp without EGR just to give an example. The 2 examples use different engine control modules.

The best thing is to go to a junk yard and try and get an EGR that is working off a similar model as what you have.
