My car's steering sticks left or right, depending upon the direction the wheels are turned when pulling away from a stop and then the car's steering continues to pull in that direction as I travel down the road. There is a popping noise as well when this occurs, but only an low speeds (under 20 km/hr). I had the front end checked by a mechanic and he told me that the front upper strut bearing (found in the strut mount) is the problem and it is a common problem with the cavaliers. Everything else checked out with alright with the front end. I thought I would share this info with everyone in case someone else is having a similar problem with their cavalier.

My steering wheel kinda sticks like that at speeds of below like 15-20mph, but it just sticks then breaks loose, and makes a popping sound, it almost sounds like its in the steering, i dunno, ima have it looked at pretty soon im thinkin
This isn't anywhere nearly the same car, but one time my dad had a Fairmont wagon with the same symptoms, sticking steering and a popping noise and it turned out to be a flexible joint (or whatever the hell they're called) that goes between the shaft from the steering wheel and the shaft on the steering rack.
...i have the popping noise at very low speeds, but my steering doesnt stick at all...it almost sounds like the sub frame shifting.....wish i knew what it was hah...
Cavalier z24......A poor man's Camaro....close enough, right?
check cv joints too, lots of things in front suspensions can mess up
I would have wrote you a poem, but I couldn't find anything that rhymed with F@#K OFF!
