ok when my ac is on the car sounds nice and quite not one odd sounds at all top notch.....when i turn it off it makes a spinning noise i dont know what it is my ac works super there are no probs that i know of with the car but as soon as the turn off the ac off that noise comes back. could it be a belt tensor or some thing?
if some one really need to hear the noise i will make a clip of it thanks
AC clutch, it is actually a normal thing. A little bit of rust builds up the the surface of the clutch and it makes an annoying slight metal on metal spinning sound. I've talked to mechanics, it is a very common thing, no big problem, just annoying as f***.
I used to turn on my AC when ever coming to a stop light or into a parking lot w/ people around because I was embarrassed. Now, my AC compressor is shot and the system has no charge, so I can't even turn it on anymore until I get a new pump and recharge it

At least it doesn't do it all the time.
What ever you do, don't spray wd40 in there or anything. It will be tempting because it will make it go away for a while, but eventually that will disolve all the grease in your pump bearings and it will seize up, making the car undriveable.
Mine makes a small pinging noise there also. I think mine is because it was hit in the front right and barely bent the compressor shaft. Now the belt and pulley make that noise. None is heard when compressor is on....Check for burrs on pulley too...
so what part would needed to be fixed to get this thing to shutup? the A\C clutch?
y bother replacing it the new one will likely make the same noise, and it is normal to make that noise... my car sounds like complete @!#$ with the a/c on, and makes the same kinda noise once its off, no harm at all.
