A/C l/p & h/p switches
Thursday, August 17, 2006 6:26 AM
I have read the sticky on the A/C but I cannot find anywhere that tells me where the l/p and the h/p sensors are located. On a 98 2.4 Z24 I see a plug behind the radiator on the refrigerant line beside what I believe is the h/p service port (has a red cap on it). Which sensor is this? I tried to jump it but it has 3 wires to it. I was trying to get my clutch engaged but when two of the contacts were jumped it kicked on my cooling fan and after unhooking it went off. Other two contacts caused the cooling fan to come on and after unhooking it stayed on until I turned off the engine. Contacting the remaining wire with either of the others dis nothing at all. Where are the switches/relays I need to check and how can I do it? All these teste were done with engine running and A/C in on position. Also how can I check the A/C relay. What about the cooling fan relay? My compressor does not feel locked as I can turn the inside of the clutch with my hand. Please help any would be greatly appreciated.....Best Regards....

On some they are combined switches. I haven't looked at a '98 in a while, lo pressure look near the firewall next to the reciever/dryer. Might be on the canister, i think a friends is there.

Answer to my own question: There are no hp & lp switches on "98 2.4. The compressor is VD (variable displacement and therefore the switches are not required.
