Hello this sound is a rather loud sound that is coming from the engine in my girlfriends stock 2001 cavalier 2.2l at idle when it is warm, and it is audible under light acceleration at the top of each gear. It sounds like something in the air intake because the sound of it is a lot like when you put a cold air kit on the car and you can hear the engine through the intake... This car has a stock un-obstructed air cleaner with no mods... I cant see any cracks or holes in the intake tube, is there any sensors that could have fallen out??? ANY help would be appreciated...
Also, what is the stock shift points on the 4 speed auto? Its hitting just over 3k rpms on light throttle acceleration.. My GF says this is higher than normal, I have NO idea. Thanks again!!
Well buzzing during idle and acceleration, Is youre electronic's with in youre engine compartment. That noise is normal, EX: hitting just over 3k rpms on light throttle acceleration.. My GF says this is higher than normal, I have NO idea. Thanks again!!. Thats sounds about right before it shifts to the next gear on an automatic trans, Now if its slipping that not good, Maybe try getting the transmission filter and fluid change done. That might correct that issue.
Good Luck
Hmm thanks for the help.... But this sound cant be normal, because it just started a few days ago and its getting louder But in any case I will be getting the fluid changed in the tranny
