Heat shield removal?

on my 00 fire the heat shield is lose and hits the pipes? Is it ok to remove just to remove it all? And if i do is my carpet going to melt or the floor going to get really hot or anything like that thanks guys!

I think it should be ok, It might make youre paint blister underneathe youre car, You could even buy some black Rubber undercoating. It is heat resistined, And noise as well.

ahh its ok not to many ppl look under there anyways so you think it would be ok for me just to rip them out? because in a few weeks i am going to have the underbody washed and preped for winter

just take the damn thing out. Not to be a jerk but be reasonable about it. It's not going to melt anything or do serious damage. The only one I might keep (have all removed) Is the exhaust to the fuel tank shield. But thats just on how picky you might be.

BAM GONE i HATED that rattle made my car sound like a POS ..... and it was the heat shield that was around the gas tank it should be fine i think

hmm... I've been thinking about removing mine as well... my exhaust hits it and rattles... kinda embarresses me when I roll up to a stop light and all you hear is tink tink tink TINK....!!!!

thats why i took my out i hated that noise it made the car sound soo @!#$ty i tried makeing it tighter but there is not way...maybe down the road i willget a new one

thats why i took my out i hated that noise it made the car sound soo @!#$ty i tried makeing it tighter but there is not way...maybe down the road i willget a new one


well that can be a good thing. people would never think a clunker could smoke a ricer.LOL

You would think it was there for a reason. You might want to try to bend it to where it should be, but if you really want a hot exhaust getting closer to your fuel tank? I think not.

you are right but i checked today after some "harddriveing" on the highway and in city and i could still put my hand on the tank and it was just a little bit warm not like hot so i think its ok to remove it
