98 Cav 2200 - I just picked up some ACDelco Platinum plugs P/N 41-948. I'm tring to figure out the gap.
Out of the box there were all set to .040.
Owners manual states .060.
The spark plug box states "SET GAP PER VEHICLE SPECIFICATION (exceptions may apply)".
The ACdelco website states .050.
What should determine the gap, Car manufacturer or Part manufacturer? How critical is a .01 difference?
.050, and .060 are a huge difference believe it or not. I sat though two hours of lecture in one of my classes about spark plug gap.
I would say do it to what GM says.

Rob is right....
Most people are too lazy to pull their plugs, say every 10,000 miles....
If they're working OK, then they sould be re-gapped....
Todays' cars have coils that put out around 40,000 volts....
Those gaps erode and widen....
