HEY WHATS UP BOYS AND GIRLS?? QUICK ? FOR YOU ALL.....I THINK MY IGNITION CONTROL MODULE IS GOING BAD.....DID A SEARCH AND FOUND OUT SOME INFO TO POINT ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION.....BUT I AM RUNNING BOSCH PLATNUM PLUS FOURS ALSO, AND MY CAR SPUTTERS AT START UP, BUT AFTER WARM UP IT GOES AWAY.....THEN TODAY AT LUNCH IT SEEMED TO SPUTTER AFTER WARM UP WHEN I WAS STOPPED AND IDLEING???? DOES THIS SOUND LIKE THE MODULE OR PLUGS OR BOTH???? ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED THANKS!!!!
That could be several things from the wires to the idle air control valve to the air intake temp sensor to an O2 sensor going bad. Something like this isn't an easy find.
Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
Typically an ICM works or it doesnt. Check to make sure you have 12V going to it. It is was only getting say 9.5V it isnt going to work right, it needs proper voltage to work correctly.
Next running plugs other than ACDelco, doesnt seem to go to well with our cars. I would change out the Boshc and install GM parts, also make sure they are gapped correctly. An incorrect spakr plug gap will cause running problems.
As for your sputtering. When it sputters and you give it more gas does it go away, does it have a loss of power, does the car run bad at all speeds, only when idling, when coasting, all the time? More info is needed.
It could quite possibly be a fuel problem, as sputtering problems usually are.
Anyways first change the plugs the go from there.
- 2004 Cavalier - 124k, owned since new
i just changed out the bosch plugs with ac delco platinums and it runs smoother
as for the sputtering it only happens after it starts up.....i tap the gas then the rpms drop to around 500 or so and it seems to wanna die but doen't.....after its warmed up it does not sputter at all???
As an automotive service advisor, what do you think?
i would say its either fuel or spark.....just wondering if any one has had the same problem
