Checked both the bulbs and the fuse. All are ok.

There is one license plate light out, but I do not think they would be related.

Any ideas or clues as to where the source of the problem may be?

This is also a manual transmission car.

Youre back up light switch could be wornout. Or youre blub connections could be corroided.

Is the backup light switch going to be next to the shifter assembly?

No, it's actually screwed into the tranny itself. Easy to replace. I think there's instructions here somewhere. The stupid switch cost me $40 though!!

I'm going to have a HowTo on my site sometime once I get around to writing it since I took pics when doing the install. In the meantime, as I said, it's here somewhere if you do a search.

I had to replace the backup switch on my '03 Cavi at 36,000 miles. Got it at Autozone, $18 and 10 minutes to install. It's on the front/side of the transmission. I poped the side plastic cover off behind the drivers wheel (in front of the axle) and changed it very easily.

is this the same for the brake lights??? where is the brake on and off switch??? i think mine is messed up

No, this is specific to the reverse lights. Do a search for your brake light problem and start another thread if necessary.

Yes I realize a year later and I havn't replaced it yet.... , but I need to now to pass inspection when I move to VA. What exactly is it called? The guy at advance had a "nuetral safety switch", but I don't think thats what I'm looking for, anyone know specifically what its called. I hate how car companies give this stuff weird names.

Is reverse light or backup light switch too friggen complicated?
