on my '91 cavalier. It just started today.
I just left sears, started up the car, engine rpm jumps to about 2000 for about 10secs then dropped down to normal (about 800).
Put the car in drive, got up to a stop sign and stopped. Engine rpm drops down to about 400 or so then car dies. I restart it, give it some gas and im on my way to the next stop sign. dies again. no problems while on the interstate for about 30min, then i hit the stop sign off the interstate, but luckily, my car doesnt die that time.
I think it may be an oxygen sensor, but im confused as to why my rmp's shoot up to 2000 for 10secs or so after i start the car.

Could be a sticky IAC. Seems like several people lately have had problems that can be explained by that.
I dont know what a IAC is, what does it look like? Are the expensive to repair?

Could use a complete tune up maybe
