A/C Problem
Saturday, May 27, 2006 1:30 PM
I have a 2000 Sunfire 2dr and lately have been having problems with the A/C. It starts off fine all fan speeds work and cools great but if you use the low speed after a while stops blowing air through the vents. you can hear the fan but no air. If you select the medium speed after this happens you can hear the fan speed increase but still no air. Only after you turn the ac off or move the vent selector to another setting for a few minutes will it work. Could this be a vacuum problem?

Is the air blowing thru the defroster or the the lower vents??

Sounds like you have a selector switch problem. I believe the selector works off of vacuum. If the line that selects were the air goes has a leak, The air will blow thru different vents depanding on engine speed and vacuum demand.

I have a similar problem.....I have alot of air coming through the defroster and lowere vents, but not much on the front dash vents. And yes that goes for all settings. Is it the selector switch, or the vac line. I do have a 2.3L tb, and I havent place a "t" one the vac lines.

There is a small amount of air blowing through the defrost. You can hear the blower doing it's job but no air.
