Hey everyone, 2 maintenance question here.
( 1.) I'm thinking of flushing anti freeze this weekend would u guys share wat's a best or mostly use engine coolant brand for our cav?
(2.) is there a better clutch fluid for our car other than DOT 3 brake fluid? in which i'm currently using.
I appreciate any ideas guys.
Well whitebull88:
I usually try to stick the OEM recommeded fuilds. Coolant is really youre choice. I would use the dexcool coolant with the cavaliers.
Same with brake fluid works the same. Some car recommend different kinds. Once again I use OEM.
Good Luck.
Dexcool messed up my cooling system it made a sludge and my low coolant light kept coming on. I used some generic brand and it was fine
Dexcool with distilled water shouldn't gel up or anything. Dexcool is apparently touchy, doesn't work well with others, or anything else for that matter. Not even the 'all-compatable' stuff from Prestone. If you flush it yourself, let the water run clean an extra minute or so. I have a '92 2.2 with 181K miles on it as proof! As for the clutch fluid, stay DOT 3. You shouldn't haveta top it off too much for the life of the clutch. You could flush and replace it with synthetic, if you wanna, but that could be a waste of time in some minds. The system isn't really exposed to water (like brakes are), so the fluid should stay in good condition for a long time.
